Teeth or Just Saliva?

First of all, little J is "talking" a lot more now.  We really think he knows when we are talking to him.  He smiles and coos... definitely a little charmer... look out girls. =P

Here is the thing, maybe the more experienced moms can shed some light.  He definitely has more saliva coming out of his little mouth lately; he is sucking on his fingers (ok, sometimes the whole fist and trying to stuff both fists in his mouth); he is cranky after 7PM or 8PM, when the sun sets (no, our child is not a werewolf =P).  He is going to be 12 weeks on Thursday.  Is it possible that he is teething?  No his gum is not swollen.  I am hoping he is just tired at the end of the day... and not teeth till he is at least 6 months.  We will see. =)

  1. Typically, the first tooth erupts around 6 months of age (according to the dentist, who enlightened me at C's teeth-cleaning a month or so ago). However, the teeth begin their trip toward the gumline much earlier, and during that trip they bug baby just a bit. This irritation started for C around 13-14 weeks of age. So, the short answer is yes, it's teething, yet, it is not.
